Destiny 2: Solstice Event 2025 Guide

Summertime and the livin's easy.

The Solstice event in Destiny 2 is one of four seasonal events throughout the year. Solstice occurs around the time of the actual Summer Solstice, and it (the Destiny one) lasts from August 5-19. The event brings plenty of loot, farming sources, and cosmetics, so let’s get started by taking a look at how to participate in the event this year!

How to Participate in the Solstice Event?

There are no restrictions on who can or can not take part in the Solstice event. You don’t have to buy any expansions, either, so it’s completely free-to-play. To get started with Solstice, just go to Eva Levante at the Tower. She’s right in the middle where she always is for special events. Once you talk to her, she’ll give you a mission which will guide you through the rest of the experience. Most of the rest of it is just running various activities to gain Solstice Alloy (the event’s currency) and obtain your armor glow, but you can also farm for weapons and armor rolls too.

Best Weapons from the Solstice Event?

All three featured weapons in this year’s Solstice event are brand new and worth checking out. Personally I’ve really liked the new Strand Grenade Launcher the most, but the other two are pretty strong too if you like their general weapon types. In this section I’ll give you my thoughts on the best perks for each weapon in PVE.

Festival Flight (Strand Grenade Launcher)

God Roll:

  • Attrition Orbs
  • Blast Distributor or Demolitionist
  • High-Velocity Rounds
  • Volatile Launch

Festival Flight is a lot of fun to use. I love area denial frame Grenade Launchers, and while this isn’t one of the best, it’s worth checking out. Blast Distributor is a fun perk to use if you like spamming grenades, and I also really like Attrition Orbs on any GL. Not a bad weapon at all, especially since it’s so easy to farm.

Fortunate Star (Void Bow)

God Roll:

  • Destabilizing Rounds or Explosive Head
  • Repulsor Brace or Dragonfly
  • Compact or Carbon Arrow Shaft
  • Tactile String or Agile Bowstring

I really love Bows in general, so I’m never upset to see more of them. Fortunate Star benefits from the always-popular Destabilizing Rounds + Repulsor Brace roll in Void builds, so it has a place there for sure. Explosive Head + Dragonfly is also a strong alternate roll if you don’t want to go all-in on Void. I could see Fortunate Star getting some use in higher-level content for sure.

Yeartide Apex (Solar SMG)

God Roll:

  • Incandescent
  • Heal Clip
  • Ricochet Rounds or Armor-Piercing Rounds
  • Corkscrew Rifling, Arrowhead Brake, or Chambered Compensator

It’s hard to go wrong with an SMG with Incandescent and Heal Clip. Incandescent is one of the best perks in Destiny 2 for ad-clear, so it’s perfect for an SMG. Heal Clip is just a strong perk on any weapon, as healing will always be helpful. I think I could see this weapon being used in some endgame content, but I don’t think it’ll be the absolute top tier meta pick. Who knows, though?

Solstice Armor Set Info & General Solstice Farming

Since the Edge of Fate expansion saw a renewed armor system with bonuses for equipping multiple pieces of the same set, that means we get something new to farm during the new event. The armor set for Solstice is called the Lustrous set, with its own set of bonuses.

To get the Solstice armor, your easiest path is to follow the Solstice quest-line with Eva. That’ll guide you down the path to obtaining your armor set and its glow. However, if you don’t want to just do that, you can also get it from using Event Tokens to purchase armor engrams from the event shop. You can buy weapons and other items here too. To get Event Tokens, just complete daily and weekly challenges in the event menu.

Here is the full information for the Solstice 2025 armor set (Lustrous set):

  • 2 Piece Bonus: Photogalvanic – Receiving healing temporarily grants your Solar weapons increased flinch resistance, handling, and reload speed.
  • 4 Piece Bonus: Cauterize – Rapid Solar final blows heal you.

Personally, I think it’s quite strong. The 2-piece bonus is kind of whatever, but the 4-piece bonus is great. If you’re on a build that can get lots of Solar rapid blows, this is a great set to choose. I even think it could work well in endgame content if you have a build that can get quick kills even against high HP ads.

How to Farm Solstice Alloy Fastest?

Since there isn’t a single activity to farm this year like usual, there are more options for optimizing your rewards. If you’re looking for the Solstice Alloy currency, then you want to stick to activities in the Portal. Portal activities have special modifiers for Solstice, so only they count. Here are some easy Portal methods to gain Solstice Alloy:

  • Crucible (PVP)
  • Quickplay
  • Solo Ops

Personally, I like to either just grind some quick PVP matches since they end so quickly or just run some Quickplay Strikes. If you prefer the solo route, though, you can always grind whatever mission you’re able to complete quickest. This will probably change from player to player, but it shouldn’t take too long for you to experiment with it to figure out.
